History & Work
When Emersyn Freund required a bone marrow transplant and had no match available, friends and volunteers organized swabbing drives to broaden the national registry. Those efforts led to the formation of EmmyStrong. Since then, EmmyStrong has added thousands of donors to the National Bone Marrow Registry and helped multiple patients receive life-saving transplants.
- Continuing to host bone marrow swabbing events to increase the national registry
- Hosting holiday present drives for inpatients
- Designing and distributing 100-Day Milestone Charts and Stickers for transplant patients
- Partnering with hospitals including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Hackensack University Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital
- Working with the National Marrow Donor Program on registry growth projects
- Offering peer-to-peer sessions for adolescents undergoing transplants
